Known as the ‘Sunshine Herb', St. John's Wort is widely recognised as an effective treatment for the symptoms of depression like insomnia. Several Clinical Studies, mainly in Germany, have confirmed the efficacy of the herb as a depression relief. For centuries, herbalists have used St. John's Wort to treat burns, wounds and ulcers, as well as anxiety. More recently it has been confirmed that St. John's Wort can also be used to treat specific types of depression including Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can be triggered by lack of sunlight or vitamin D deficiency, and also PMS.
